I had 14 hours of sleep in one night! A NEW RECORD! The events leading up to this may explain why I did sleep for fourteen hours however!
On Friday we left for Spree in a lovely coach the weather was OK it was going to be the best holiday ever and I had a new set of batteries for my headphones. Just as we were arriving on location (Kings Bruton School, Somerset) the weather decided to do something that we hadn't asked it to do - rain! And not that little bit of rain where you can do something but the torrential kind of rain where you're wet in seconds and putting up a tent is no mean feat! Anyways we managed to get the tents up eventually (it was a big time pain and some of us didn't go to the nice warm venue and instead put up tents!). Sleeping wasn't too bad - managed to get to sleep around 1.30am and was up by 7am! Saturday started opposite to the way it would finish - the sun was shining! The mood was more optimistic - we went to book the activities and the football teams in (though the only activity left was swimming). The footie teams both did really well Exmouth B got through to the Quarter Finals where they were unlucky to be knocked out, Exmouth A got to the final and narrowly missed out of winning. Else where we went to the 'compolsory session' which was pants and swimming (which was really good fun!). The afternoon was spent chilling out (and dodging rain) plus entering the talent show with Si, Wayne and Jaz doing some 'parody' songs (I'm too sexy for the church, I like J.C. and I cannot lie and Bless me Saviour one more time) which shockingly made it through to the evening final. Si, Katie and I then went into Bruton for some charcoal briquettes, drinks and ice cream (humerous considering the weather). The evening was interesting with a session that was a little better - Katie staring in 'I'm a celebrity get me out of here' and Exmouth keeping up the tradition of being the noisiest group (hence my inability to speak today!)! We all then went along to the talent show which was really good fun. We were the audience favourite (though not having any talent and having two adults in the group was against us!) and had loads of people coming up and saying they loved us (cool - exmouth groupies!). Then the best part of the weekend for me - BROTHER JOHN!!!! They really really really rocked - as one of the girls from our group put it "That was better than Glastonbury!". I really hope to get them down to Exmouth for January 2005 theBrix launch (more to come on that later!). That night I didn't get so much sleep. Somehow (either through sabotage or a mixture of high winds and wet ground) some of the pegs and the guy ropes had come off and so at 2.30am (having really only just got to sleep)I woke up to find puddles of water on my glasses and the fact that I was soaked, my clothes were soaked and it was raining quite heaving on me! With visibility being very low I went and stood under the marqueey thing for a couple of hours and then sat around until the showers opened for the leaders (at 6am). So it's Sunday morning I'm tired, I've sorted out the rather damp marquee area and drained off the various surfaces and cooking appliences and got some hot drinks going. Then it's time for a 'compolsory session' which was better until the rather confusing message at the end (though I kinda closed my eyes for a couple of seconds a couple of times which may have made it more confusing). Then some packing up and chatting and photos and saying goodbye and stuff before loading the coach and travelling back to Exmouth. I got back home at 5.30pm and though - well I'm shattered and I better have a quick kip before I do anything else so I set my alarm for 7.00pm. Unfortuantly with the alarm being on silent I woke up this morning at 7.30pm! So now I've just had a bit of breakfast, stuck some washing in (about to do a second load) and doing some general cleaning up. Today not too much. Got to nip to TESCO later to get some milk and stuff, got to get packing for Ireland and doing a bit more prep work before our preperation day tomorrow and I'm going to go out for tea (so I don't have to cook hurrah!). Anyway have a nice day and I'll see you soon - God Bless.
