![]() click here to return to the index Monday, July 19, 2004![]() Yeah pink hair always helps when travelling long distances! Travelling is one of those things that after a while you learn to hate - I should be glad we're not in days of old when it would take you a week or so to get from Nottingham to London - but surely there has got to be a way of getting to Coleraine in Northern Ireland that is quicker than 16 hours. Well if there is we certainly didn't take it! Leaving Exmouth station at 7am for some reason we felt bright and awake, the prospect of waking up at our destination at a similar hour tomorrow morning was altogther very exciting. The first train from Exmouth to Exeter was a pretty unexciting journey however the banana muffin at Exeter St.Davids certainly made up for it. Then a massive journey from Exeter to Crewe on a lovely Virgin train. Being put in the "quiet zone" seemed like some kind of joke but we laughed it off (quietly) and stuck some movies, games and music on. Arriving at Crewe we very quickly changed train ready for the journey from there to Hollyhead (which is in the land of Wales!) where lunch was eaten, cards were played and kareoke was sung (rather badly!). Hollyhead was great (for the ten seconds or so we saw of it) and we got onto the ship (though Piers nearly managed to forget his luggage thinking that the security check was taking his bag on the ship for him). The fast ferry was fast (it kinda made your stomach feel oozy) and allowed more time at the other end for the group to be able to get on a bus, before going to the train station and sampling just some of the delight of the city of Dublin. From Dublin we took a lovely train (though Catherine Tollerton nearly didn't make it) through to Belfast, where after another quick change we were on yet another train this one through to Coleraine. The only thing of note on this journey was convincing Janine that she was in fact in North Devon and that the people around her were actors - she's going to win that gulibility award no probs! Arriving at the House at around 10.30pm tired, and without James' bag (that was now on a train to Londonderry) we quickly settled down to a night of sleep (even if some certain people seemed to be talking for a long time!). Anway travelling over let's see what tomorrow brings.
