Well all is good at the moment, at conference for the next four days so your not going to see to many posts (i.e. none!) Sorry guys! Anyway when I get back I will try and give you a big update on all that went on and what's happening in the world of Guilder.
Had a good day today bought two new domains http://www.swyming.org.uk and http://www.brixingtonchurch.org.uk so have a look at the holding pages I've got on them if you get a chance. Church this morning was good, I was in charge of Sunday School and we went over to tesco and then went back had a party and did communion. We also took a look at the passover meal and what it was and stuff which was really cool. Went round to our housegroup leaders house (dave and carol) for lunch which was lasagna which was really nice. Judy was there to so it was obviously an invite the youthworker lunchtime! Spent some time this evening customising some clothes last minute for SWYM conference. I've done a T-Shirt with the new SWYMing.org.uk logo on it and a rugby top as well. I also tried experimenting with this plastic stuff but it is very bizzare the stuff never dries even when you bake it! Anyway I've got to pack my laptop in it's case now so I can get ready for conference. Oh well have a good week and I'll be back Thursday/Friday! God Bless Saturday, February 28, 2004
Got a busy day ahead of me...
First thing I'm at the Men's breakfast at church today. A lot of them are 40+ but it's really good to be able to have breakfast and fellowship with these guys and to learn from them and their experiences in the talk that follows. These guys have experienced some incredible stuff - stuff that I never will or want to. So that's a really good start to the day. Then I'm spending the middle part of the day updating bigfattoothbrush.co.uk and sorting out some glitches in bft.org.uk. I'm looking at changing bft.org.uk a bit to have a seperate menu and main window module and to create some sort of background radio player. It's all stuff I haven't tried before so I'm looking forward to it! This evening I'm going around to David's to watch videos/dvds and to have a bite to eat - which will be a good laugh and will help me to relax to get ready for conference which starts next week! I am shattered (and coming down from a major sugar high!)! Had an incredibly busy day that just didn't seem to stop. Was in school this morning and during the team meeting we were starting to look at Ireland and what's happening with it this year which is cool. I work with 5 1/2 others in the team.
David - is a 21 year old German who I worked with a lot last year (because the churches we were at did a lot of joint stuff). He works with the sixth form in school and is someone who I get together with to watch vids and stuff! Nadine - is a 19 year old German who has also on her second year in the team. She works with years 10 and 11, and today we went to KFC after school and had some very nice food! Katie - is an 18 year old American (so acording to statistics 28 times more likely to kill me than a belgian). She's in her first year and is living with the family that I lived with last year which is cool. Dorothea - 18 and another German is the newest member having only joined the team since Christmas and has been the but of a couple of my jokes recently. Simon - is the team leader and he's 25 (as he has been for the past 7 or so years!). Another brit he keeps us all in order and makes sure that we're going to lessons and are spiritually developing. He's also avalible for discos. Matt - is the 1/2 because he's only with the team twice a work as he's really a full time worker at a local church. He was in the team properly last year and is quite a nice bloke. Anyway also been in the prayer room and finished doing my huge map of South England for next Wednesday's conference which is good. And we had Powerpack and Yo where I did all sorts of things and now for some reason feel very shattered. Oh well probably means that I need to get some sleep! Nitey Nite! Thursday, February 26, 2004
Wahey! Currently listening to radio on demand stand up comedy which is quite good. It's the first time I've really used it in a while and I'm impressed by the quality on broadband.
Went shopping twice today. Once down town and once up to Tesco. In town I got mugs, mats, candles and some black stones for the prayer room (also got my copy of webuser). I got a vanilla ice smelling candle and have put it in the middle of the black stones so that it represented the light bursting through the dark. In TESCO I got new gead and shoulders shampoo (hurrah!) and some clotted cream and scones (hurrah! hurrah!). Spent the day in the prayer room today which was really good got some work done as well and some planning stuff for x-stream (a basic Christianity course we're doing with our young people at church this summer). Also had Supergang tonight which is the younger kids group at church and had a good conversation with one of the lads about prayer. Bout to go and go to sleep. Nite! Wednesday, February 25, 2004
I had a good day today. Cluster this morning was interesting. I enjoyed being able to pray with Lesley and Katie (Lesley works for a project in Dawlish and Katie works in Torquay) and it was really good to look at Colossians with Colin Piper (the guy who leads SWYM). But I got a bit bored during the rest of it and it seemed just to be for the sake of it. I think we should just have the food (which this morning had a scottish theme and included Iron Bru), follow it with share for prayer and care, then have a message and worship. All the messing around in between does my head in!!
Had a miracle happen this afternoon. In the morning Lesley and Katie had prayed that I could get all this work I need to get done for conference finished and in around 2 hours I did 2800 words or so on pastoral theology with a break for a cuppain the middle - cummon! So the one I need to hand in down I might have a crack at the other tomorrow along with planning for church stuff. Also got to have a good couple of meetings tonight. The first was a Sunday School leaders looking at the practicalities of changing it around and doing x-stream from Easter till Summer and it seems to have been approved which is cool. The second was housegroup where today we looked at Prayer (our next spiritual discipline) and had a discussion on it which was really good before praying for each other. Tomorrow I've got a day of planning prayer and supergang in the evening. I've also got to go into town so that I can buy a map for a prayer thing we are doing at SWYM conference next week - should be cool! Have a gud un! 12 people have contributed to this song that insults me! Well it's quite good! The Andy Insult Verse 1 Andy sings and he's very bad In fact he's very very sad He wants to be in a rock and roll band Maybe he'll be famous in Disneyland Chorous Andy can't sing - And his feet smell Andy can't sing - Ruth says so as well Andy can't sing - His voice sounds like a pig in a cheesegrater Andy can't sing - But he'll rock you later!! Verse 2 Sometimes he wears a dress To all the girls he is a pest But on stage he is a star Even though he can't play guitar Verse 3 If you're coming to Ireland you'll see him there Everyday with a clean pair of underwear He screams and shouts and looks like a fool But in his head he thinks he's cool Bridge Big Nose - Silly Clothes Short Hair - Looks like a bear Brain Dead - Blue Head He should have gone to specsavers! © The Year 7 X-Stream Lunctime Group and Andrew Guilder Tuesday, February 24, 2004
Well it's the second day back in school today. Just been watching breakfast on the beeb and catching up with all the news (whilst eating my frosties and having a nice cuppa tea!).
Yesterday was a good day, my lessons were OK and the lads I worked with were behaving themseleves! Lunchtime club went really well - the girls won the girls verses boys quiz for the first time ever, the winner stays on arm wrestling challenge was very popular and they even enjoyed intervewing me! It was also good to see all the team who I work with who are all well and who also had good half terms. Last night I went round to the Egglestons for tea and to watch Smallville which was really cool. Also got to play Tony Hawks 4 on the PS2. In town me and Josh got Silver rings as part of the purity for God thing - very cool! Today, got TA meeting (Teachers Assistants Meeting) then some lessons (including my favourite ICT) and then this evening I'm doing elevate where we are watching the last of the quest videos and having pancakes. With today being the last day before lent starts I am having one last day of watch unsociable TV, then it stops. Which could be fun! Well at least I've got me music to listen to! Monday, February 23, 2004
Well first day back in the college today. I'm also incharge of cleaning the office this week which I'm really looking forward to (not!). Also doing lunchtime club which is a good laugh and got all sorts of things that I've just been planning.
Tonight I'm going over to the Egglestons for dinner and to watch Smallville on E4. Also need to start work on these assignments (yeah still!). Did you see how Summer Matthews did in the charts? Well number 35 for this artist that they promoed bigtime but to be honest the general music buying public thought it was rubbish! Sunday, February 22, 2004
Well I've been rocking around today. Church this morning was alright. Sunday School was quite good (looking at Saul on the road to Damascus), and afterwards got the chance to try and work out some dates and stuff for this year. Speaking of dates my whole diary has been totally beefed up I think evening off with be a phrase which I won't be using much anymore. Mondays is my nigth with the Egglestons (kinda a booked off evening), Elevate on Tuesdays, Housegroup Wednesdays, Supergang Thursdays and Yo and Powerpack on Friday! So if I'm not posting 24/7 you'll realise I'm doing stuff! At the mo, just been doing some video editing and playing on Tony Hawks 3 (got 1.5 million on Airport). Just had a bit of tea as well and now I'm already starting to think of Bed after I've checked my e-mail anyway, Work tomorrow that'll be cool! Nighty Night
Sorry I didn't post yesterday evening when I got back it was quite hectic! The coach journey was just as boring as expected and I gave up on the lamposts after in Loughbrough alone I counted three hundred.
When I got back I went to the Egglestons and watched the England Rugby. I thought we were pretty solid but there is still some flowing play type stuff that we need to work on. Also there was too much kick and run especially when you have players like Jason Robinson and Josh Lewsey. Nice to be back. My throught is still hurting and I'm now onto this wierd broncial mixture which has aniseed and stuff. I've also now got a copy of one of my assingments so I'm going to make a crack at that today (leadership). Just working out how I'm going to do it. Andy and Luke (the people I live with) are both well, and have been showing off their new toy - a digital video camera (it's really dinky and very cool). They also have a video clip of me dancing and singing to the school of rock album (which isn't quite so great). Anyhows back to church in Brixington today. Going to find out whats happening with this ICE service and the prayer room. Also going out with other Andy to do Sunday School (though he's leading and I'm just there to help). Also taking a special look at the structure of the youthwork today for this leadership project to see how I would 'theorectically structure it'. - Wow that'll be fun! Saturday, February 21, 2004
It's just about time to go back and I'm about to go off to Exmouth on the National express. Got me bag, me laptop, me keys, charged my phone and my wallet (with complimentry moths!). Just gotta sort out some way of getting from Exeter to Exmouth. Going to txt a few people and try to get a lift, and just incase I can't I'll borrow some money off my dad!
Going to listen to school of rock CD and do some work on the way home (got my church history book and a pad of paper + some pens so I should be good). I'm also going to get some sleep cos I woke up at five this morning to pack and I'm already tired. Also got to e-mail myself a load of stuff now. Cherrio, I'll write l8r Friday, February 20, 2004
Wahey!! BFT.org.uk e-zine March edition is now online! Check it out at http://www.bft.org.uk , my second site in flash - cummon! I've watched and listened to all sorts of things today - Fawlty Towers, Jasper Carrott, Have I got News for You DVDs, listening to School of Rock and Aaron Spiro. Best of the lot - musically School of Rock (it is a true rock album) and visually it was probably the Have I got News For You Presenters Special.
The worst thing I watched today - Top Of The Pops. What has happened to the thing? I thought it was a round up of the chart songs from the last week but no there were just 2 songs from the chart (and one of those was a dance video with something else happening during it). The rest we're so called exclusives, or rubbish which nobody else would have. Makes me angry when they don't do what they say. Any hows I'm going off to pack, watch they think it's all over, do me bible thing and think about sugar and spice and all things nice. Have a good nights sleep! 4:09 PM Just watching Have I got News For You - The best of the guest presenters which is a real blast and I'm creating BFT at the same time. I see BFT as an extension of bigfattoothbrush.co.uk for younger viewers and with a different feel. Using flash for the site is great because I'm able to add cool effects and music and make 'hidden links' a lot less obvious. Got to pack tonight as well, ready for that lovely trip home tomorrow which I am really looking forward to (NOT!). But it'll be nice to get back and see the rest of the team (check out their mug shots (and mine) at the Exmouth ICE Website). I'm also curiously feeling the need to write some sort of up in yer face treading right on your foot rock song, so you never know I might try putting brain in head later and see how I get along. Anyway better get back to taking over the world! 10:49 AM Not getting very far on my website editing! Been to town with my dad and I got a new CD - the School of Rock motion picture soundtrack. It also rocks! Look out for a review coming soon... Well I really should get the site done! I'm working on the bigfattoothbrush music section, updating news, couple of reviews, a new feature (ten bands that changed OUR Christian World) it's going to have a UK feel to it and will feature bands that have affected OUR generation and the way we live. Who's first up...that'd be telling but I'll give you a clue - Manchester Massive! Also gotta sort out the front page format -it's not quite right somehow... 9:19 AM Just been updating the aguilder.co.uk front page. I've added some new links to some sites that I've recently discovered and I added this blog to my aguilder.co.uk top bar so that my 'regulars' can visit with ease. I've currently got Aaron Spiro's 'Sing' on, which is a great album I got as a preview a while back, playing on my laptop whilst I get ready to go for the whole bigfattoothbrush.co.uk update thing. I've also got a really bad sore throught (I can't spell!!) which is really annoying because of all the times to get ill it happens over half term! I've had it since Saturday and I'm sure it'll be just fine by Monday when I'm getting ready to back into the school again! Oh well back to the web editing! Thursday, February 19, 2004
Hiya the idea of this weblog is to show you what you can do with xanga and to monitor my progress as I go through a number of 'journals / prayer manuals' and see what I think of them all. It's like one giant book review (but with many books and no giant)!
8:46 AM Ok I'm getting used to xanga, it seems to be a lot eaiser than blogger and to have much more features. I'm just going to have breakfast and then I'm going to write my guide on how to use xanga, an updated guide on how to use blogger and a guide on how to use tripod's blog system. I think I'm going to put it to vote then and see which blogger is most attractive to bigfattoothbrush.co.uk people! 8:10 PM I have just built my first site in flash! Elevate is the church youth project that I work in and I've spent the last couple of weeks building the site using Swish Lite (which is about £10 or free off a magazine cupboard). Today was also the day to update bigfattoothbrush.co.uk community section, and I added a guide on how to use blogger, xanga and did a comparison of the too. Xanga came out top in the end. Today has also been my little brother's birtday and I'm about to go and see School of Rock at the cinema - I'll tell you what it was like l8r! 11:18 PM Just added a 'School of Rock' movie review but two words for the film 'IT ROCKED!!'. Check out the review and then go watch it, it was truely awesome. Just going to go to bed, got a load of stuff I want to get done in my last day of holiday tomorrow (like bigfattoothbrush.co.uk update and to finish bft.org.uk in flash) and some assignments I'm ment to be doing (but at the moment I haven't got the sheets and nobody's e-mailed them to me yet so I think I can get away with it!). Going to work through two journal type books and see whether they're up to scratch. One's called 'On line with God' by a guy called David Lawrence and it has a lovely cheesy tag line - 'at last! A practical help with how to pray'. The other looks very serious and boring but is the WWJD 'Spiritual Challenge Journal' by Mike Yaconelli (who's usually pretty good) so I'm going to give it a chance - The tag line 'A thirty day faith-in-action adventure for students' - I just can't wait! Get some good sleep!
