It's Monday morning and having been out for a run and bought my national express ticket already I feel like I'm getting a lot done! Today I'm in school got two lessons of support and then I'm going out for dinner (and to fix a PC) followed by an Exmouth ICE Prayer meeting.
Tomorrow I'm hoping to get a lift into Exeter with a friend who commutes there every day (got to ring them and sort it out) will be on the coach pretty much all day (wow that'll be fun) so I'm taking a CD Player and a stash of CDs and Batteries! N E Way better go and eat my cheerios! Millions long for immortality who do not know what to do with themselves on a rainy Sunday afternoon. - Susan Ertz Sunday, June 27, 2004
I can feel the excitement of the next few weeks coming up in my bones! There is so much happening... this week I'm in school on Monday, travelling to Loughborough on Tuesday, having Dentist work on Wednesday, travelling back to Exmouth on Thursday and in school on Friday. Times that by three and you get my life for pretty much the next three weeks. Add in a weekend away to 'Spree' with a load of young people and the ICE Team and you do have my life for the next three weeks! After that? Well it's off to Ireland which I'm also doing planning for the next couple of weeks - gives me a headache just thinking about it!
Anyhow I've had a good time over the past couple of days on Friday we did a prayer thing at Exmouth Chapel in the morning praying for each other and praying for the Spree and Ireland trips too. Then went out for lunch to a pizza place which was very cool before going back to do 'the big water fight' at Youth Group which was awesome. Yesterday went to Exeter with Katie bought a couple of bits and couldn't find where hawkins biazzare had moved to. In the evening sat down and watched some movies (Minority Report - which I really quite like a I watched just about two years ago before I left Loughborough and Runaway Jury which was a fantastic film of John Grisham's book that I really enjoyed). Today I've got church this morning and I'm going to do some SWYMing updates this afternoon which will be very cool and I'll probably also try to watch the footie. I have been truthful all along the way. The truth is more interesting, and if you tell the truth you never have to cover your tracks. - RealLivePreacher Friday, June 25, 2004![]() Spent this week at SWYM Conference with all this bunch of wierdos! It's been really awesome and it's quite sad that some of these guys and gals are moving on. Lovely little snap (I think it shows just how good a family we are!) The Conference was really good, we were back at Weycroft which was really nice (though we were staying in tents (which wasn't so nice)) and knowing that at the end of the week all the work I'd been doing for the past 2 years or so would be over was a really cool thing. Highlights during the week were watching the England match with loads of people in the front room on Monday (the atmosphere was electric and having an African supporting Croatia made it even better), Going out and praying with some lads in the rain for ages on Tuesday night (even if I did get soaked to my skin it showed me how I can prefer others in love), Hearing Stephs stories about sick and the number of pets she went through and the feeling of joy as I handed in the folder for the final time! The only thing to spoil the week was the England game tonight with it's silly Swiss referee. I think banning swiss chocolate, penknifes and those bells you put on your boots would be a good way to get back at the nation (or maybe their still upset after we thrashed them in the group stages!). Anyhow less moaning more sleeping! Prefer one another in love - don't know what it means .... find out! Tuesday, June 15, 2004
It's my last Tuesday in school today (!) because of the way the next few weeks are working out with conference and then the whole exciting dentist saga. Today has been made more fun by the fact that one of the guys who I'm meant to be working with has swapped sides of the year groups and so no longer needs any help (well at least it gives me some time to get my assignments done).
Yesterday was an OK day (though the whole hayfeaver, coldy thing is still causing me a lot of problems!). Lessons were good and after school went shopping with Josh and Ruth - got some new shorts, and two new computer games CSI and Football Manager 2004. My mobile phone also at last arrived and it's very funky (with the color screen and everything). I kept the same number as I had before so it's quite usefull. Anyway breakfast awaits as does the e-mails that I really should be reading (they're starting to build up now - remind me not to do websites again. 100 e-mails a day is stoopid!). It is even harder for the average ape to believe that he has descended from man. H. L. Mencken (1880 - 1956) Monday, June 14, 2004
We should have won I tell you! We were robbed! Yes I'm talking about the France England game. I think we kind of expected to loose at the start but it was the way that it happened that got me. To be winning for the whole game and then to let two in right at the end - I think I now understand what Munich fans went through all those years ago against Manchester United in the the Champions League final.
Anyway the other big thing was vote 2004, the Euro MEPs thing - how bizzare was that?! UKIP the party who are against being in Europe now represent around 20% of us within Europe! At least the greens were able to retain their couple of seats. Personally I think that it should show the government that the big issue isn't just one thing - it's a lot of things. We don't want a European superstate - we want power back for our own country. We also want a country where our schools are a higher standard, the health service is a hell of a lot better and where we can feel safe to be on the streets where ever we are. If we're not careful we'll see some Nationalistic party come in and take over the country which cannot be a good thing. Today I'm in school with French and Science lessons which should be a laugh(!). Also going to try sorting out exactly what my diary looks like over the next month or so (the word chaotic comes to mind). Anyhows I'm going to have some breakfast (with some lovely British Strawberrys that are left over). Have a good day! The fact that some geniuses were laughed at does not imply that all who are laughed at are geniuses. They laughed at Columbus, they laughed at Fulton, they laughed at the Wright brothers. But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown. Carl Sagan (1934 - 1996) Sunday, June 13, 2004
ENG-GER-LAND! ENG-GER-LAND! ENG-GER-LAND! Just practiscing ready for tonights match England are playing against France and I really hope that we can win (it'd be really good!). Last nights start to the football was great the Spain Russia match was very entertaining and it was good to see the hosts loose to a rather weak Greak side!
Claire's party on the beach was also rather nice - though I am still rather sandy! Also played a bit of FIFA 2004 on the PC which I'm starting at last to get quite good at! Today I'm at Holy Trinity Church (which is where I worked last year) for a service with the ICE Team which will be 'interesting'! Then got the middle of the day to relax and chill out a bit again and then the footie tonight! Anyway I'm going to have some breakie and see if I can fit in another game of FIFA before church! Have a gud un! The flags of St. George are flying all around me. It's coming home, it's coming home, it's coming, football's coming home!... Saturday, June 12, 2004
I'm just about awake (Hurrah!)after one of my slowest mornings in history ever! I seem to be having a real pants time with my health at the moment - as well as the teeth and foot problems, now I've got hayfeaver (like how did that happen?) and I'm feeling very tired (which could either still be from the race last week or it could be because I've taken a lot of sugar out of my diet and my body has still got to get used to it!
Otherwise I'm doing alright. My top secret (!) future project is starting to pick up a bit and I've got some meetings and stuff coming up over the next two months sorting it all out with all sorts of different groups of people - which is a very very cool thing. Also only got a couple of weeks to complete my SWYM stuff now so I'm putting a lot of effort into that so my other work isn't getting such a look in! Just on one of my favourite sites again http://www.sxc.hu/ a very good photo website which I use a lot! Got some fun stuff coming up this weekend - it's Claire's birthday party this afternoon, then the football's kicking off (England match tomoz) and tomorrow the ICE Team is at Holy Trinity church doing a service (which was the church I worked at last year). Anyway better go and wrap Claire's present! Have a great day! You canna chuck ya grannie off the bus! Wednesday, June 09, 2004
It's Wednesday and the perfect day to go to cluster then feel really ill and go to sleep for the whole afternoon! Yes today was a very exciting day - this morning we had cluster which was actually really good we got thje whole worship, prayer and training stuff all done by 11.30pm and we joined the ladies who meet in the chapel for a communion service.
After coming back I went to sleep and that was pretty much it! Have a really horrible summer cold that is boging me down which is really pants. Got to finish doing the Ireland planning tonight (typing it up for the others and getting some of the bruce almighty talks together) and if I get time I hope to update the music section of bigfattoothbrush.co.uk. Anyway dinner is nearly ready and I'm feeling very hungry! Do something to let someone else smile today... Tuesday, June 08, 2004
Yesterday was my birthday and a a good day in some ways and a very bad day in others! Let's start by getting the bad stuff out the way. I rang the "emergency dentist" yesterday morning to tell them about the work that I need doing in the next six weeks to be told that it'll take much longer than that just to get a consulation (yeah I was really happy). So I was in a bit of a pickle... I need the work done and I can't wait that long (I also don't have enough cash to go private!). So what did I do. Let's just say that three times for three days I am going back to Loughborough to see the dentist - how dumb is that! It's also £90 more which is pants. I do believe there is a dental crisis down here in the South West.
Good stuff did happen though, the lessons I was in were OK, and over lunch some of the kids had remembered it was my birthday which was very cute! After school I went round to the Egglestons and went to town with Katie and Ruth to do some shopping (got a new bandana, a dum dums album and some cool plimsole type things!). Then we had tea, birthday cake and watched Ocean's Eleven which is a pretty darn good film. Also yesterday we launched Exmouth ICE Team's version of big brother which we do using the sims. Check it out at www.exmouth-ice.co.uk/bb. Anyway I've got a shocker of a cold and I need to get stuff done (like getting rid of the shocking cold!). Have a good day. Forget Tooth decay worry about TRUTH decay. Sunday, June 06, 2004
I can now see why Paul uses running as an analogy throughout his letters in the Bible - yes today was the day of the 10K a race that I had spent nearly 2 weeks preparing for and which was an achievement but a hard one.
It was a good race the first lap was quite a fast pace around the 30 minute mark, during the second lap I died on the hill but was able to pull myself together after some water (thanks Josh!) to run a very fast last 1000m and to get a good sprint at the end. It took me around 64 minutes in the end and I was very prud to get across the finish line and get my Graham Sykes Exmouth 10K drinks bottle! The last couple of days have been good - my dad came down to Exmouth with me (to run the race and for a bit of a holiday). On Friday we wet to Lyme Regis for the day - the weather was lovely though it was very busy obviously a lot of people around for their holiday. On Saturday we went to the beach with Josh and David and did some swimming and stuff (and I got a bit red), then I had my 20th birthday party on the saturday afternoon - a barbecue on the Maer which was really cool - it was nice to celebrate with my friends. We then went to see 'the day after tomorrow' which was a fantastic film before crashing out! Talking of crashing out that's what I'm going to go and do! Run the race to win and finish way... Had a good day yesterday made a couple of investments! Bought a new mobile phone (after I broke the old one) a Siemens A60 which I got from Amazon for just £50 (£20 cheeper than the orange shop in loughborough!). Then I went over to Currys where I'd seen a scanner for £35 which was actually quite good (a xerox 2400). I scanned loads of photos yesterday (around 40) within 1 hour - though the scanner was a lot fasater than I was at picking which photos I wanted to use!
So today I'm going to be creating a photo gallery for aguilder.co.uk of my pictures from when I was a little until now! It's quite cool really! Just adding some captions at the moment! Already updated the events and gig guide for bigfattoothbrush.co.uk this morning which is now looking quite cool. Also got to do a jog to keep going ready for the Exmouth 10K on Sunday. Anyway I'm going to go and do something rather than type this and watch Ballamory on TV! Live life like ya mean it! Wednesday, June 02, 2004
Been getting my teeth stuck into website stuff - though getting my teeth stuck in isn't such a good phrase at the moment! Yesterday I went to the dentist who basically says he hasn't got long enough to do the work that I need. So I've to find a dentist back home (which is near impossible anyway) who can do the work in the next six weeks! How on earth am I going to do that? Please pray about it for me!
As I mentioned the website stuff is going well bigfattoothbrush is looking fruity this summer and I've got a marketing scheme to go with it which are v.simple posters with a picture of some fruit and then 'Juicy' or 'Wot u looking at' or 'Freshly Squeezed' with the web address below. I think they'll attract people to the site out of curiosity! Found some good photo sites along the way my favourite being Stock Photos - a very good quality site! Also doing some SWYMing stuff at the moment creating a list of resources and stuff that youthleaders could do with. Stuff for creating posters, bible studies, dramas, games, music, travel and free software. Did some babysitting last night which has now pushed my 'Mobile Phone Collection' up enough to buy a new phone which I might try and do today (I'm currently investigating the Siemans A60). Have a good day anyhow! Christ is the one through whom God created everything in heaven and earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can't see – kings, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities. Everything has been created through him and for him. Colossians 1:16 (NLT) Tuesday, June 01, 2004
I've ran over 10K now! I did a run this morning up to the roundabout by the moterway admittedly I was nearly dead by the time I got there but at least I did make it! I did 70 minutes which for my first attempt and after only 5 days of training I don't think is too bad. I aim to do it in around 60 minutes on Sunday but I'm not too bothered if I don't.
What I have found is that I do like running and it's something that I want to keep on doing after I've done the race (it'll also help with my general fitness and weight!). I'm also looking at getting a Devon Choice card from September as well so all that training together should be great! Anyway I've got to go to the dentist to hear the bad news and see if I can get some work done today. Make sure you run the race of life aiming to finish well!
