Wow, I'm back in Exmouth and everything seems to be jollylly smashing! The Egglestons have upgraded to XP, which meant I had to sort out the internet connection for them again last night but we are all online now (hence the ability once again to post). It's nice to back, went to WHSmith and bought the times this morning, have drank copious amounts of decaf tea and am beginning to plan all the stuff I have coming up over the next couple of months. Had a really great weekend. The wedding was really nice and it twas lovely to able to see and catch up with Grandparents, cousins, other relatives and friends. On Sunday I got a lift from my parents down to Camberley where I was staying with the lovely Helen and family. In the evening we went along to church for a service all about the Tsunami (see http://www.google.com/tsunami_relief.html for ways you can give and help with that situation). On Monday after doing some shopping in town and making a Chocolate truffle torte (OK... so I just crushed the biscuits!). Afterwards Helen suggested going for a walk in the local woods (the map above shows the walk and the numbers upon it corespond to the journey below). The walk was lovely, the views were amazing, the company was very pleasant! It was at point one on the map when I asked the question "Do you know where we are?". The response "No, I don't know where we are but I always find my way back home" seemed somehow fine as I walked blissfully unaware that we were lost! At point two on the map I made a joke that we were walking around in circles, we laughed and continued! At point three I noticed that we were about to go through the same bog as we had previously gone through an hour or so before. It was at this point where Helen said she wasn't sure where she was. It was starting to get dark and so Helen pointed and being the trusting soul I was I followed. It was now pitch black, neither of us had a watch or phone and I was carrying only a candle, a box of matches and packet of love hearts! Once the light had nearly totally failed I decided to be authoratitive! We stopped and listened and I felt I could hear a busy road. Unfortunatly some sort of army place was in the way so we had to walk alongside a fence until we came to the road. It was at this point that Helen began to pray very audibly! (somewhere along the lines of "Please God, let one of these cars stop"). We walked along the road waving our arms at every car that came along and eventually one stopped. A young family told us that we were rather close to Bracknell (a long way from out from our starting point in Camerberly). Taking the option of a lift back we eventually got home (it still took 15 minutes driving - I hate to think how long it would have taken for two rather tired walkers). My feet were in agony. So in conclusion ladies and gentlemen - If you ever go on walk with Helen you may want to be careful if she uses the phrase "I don't know where we are but I always find my way back home"... You could end up anywhere! God Bless...
Comments:
"a candle, a box of matches and packet of love hearts" interesting things to have on you whilst going for a walk MrG ;)
the candle could be to make small wax models during periods of boredom.
the matches could be to solve complex maths formulas during periods of boredom. dunno about the lvoe hearts. they really are quite girly things to be carrying around.
maybe its just me.. but did he want to be lost.. and did he offer his love hearts away or just his heart?
I had purchased the matches in the morning from Sainsbury's because I thought they would be useful for the prayer room (with my lighter always going missing and what not). The candle was one which had been in a holder that I had taken out and stuck in my pocket (for lack of any other place to put it at the time), I had got it from the wedding! The lovehearts also came from the wedding (a most delightful touch to proceedings) and had also got put in my jacket pocket. And no I don't offer my heart, just confectionary! God Bless...
you've always got excuses! you never offered me any confectionary :( I'm still waiting for my sea front chinese with a candle on the dashboard!! King George xXx
Not excuses - reasons! (wow I could be a politition!). You might be waiting for the chinese a while - unless you have a car, a candle for the dashboard and money to buy the chinese with! God Bless...
